We encourage friendly and open discussion between staff and parents and parents are welcome to see teachers at the end of day if necessary. Mr Beveridge is usually available in the playground where he greets parents and children daily but should an extended discussion be required then an appointment can easily be made. Parents receive regular information about the daily life of the school via the website, newsletters, curriculum summaries and are updated on their child’s progress through reports and parents evenings. Parent involvement is welcome and we have an active fundraising group who organise fun events throughout the year including a summer fair. Parents are welcomed into school regularly to share in the many special occasions throughout the year including fortnightly ‘Values worship’, concerts, Christmas plays, displays, exhibitions, sporting activities and matches.
Ways that we work with parents include:
Parent/teacher meetings are held twice a year giving parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with the teacher and to look at examples of their work. Of course, parents are welcome to meet with the teacher or headteacher at other times to discuss any questions or concerns they may have and are asked to speak to the school office anytime or teacher at the end of the day to arrange a time.
Before the end of the summer term, parents are invited to a ‘Look what I can do’ session where all the children have the opportunity to show their family the work that they have undertaken throughout the year.
‘Partnerships with parents and carers are good, with the vast majority saying that their children enjoy school’.
The fete is well attended by the local community, families and friends of the school
The Governors play an active role in many aspects of the school.
